2018 Yearly Movie Roundup

At the beginning of the 2018 I really didn’t know what to expect when I relaunched my blog as I had attempted to do it the previous year but fell behind and was always playing catch up so just knocked the project on the head. This year I was determined to make it the entire year and keep up to date with my reviewing as I didn’t want a repeat of what happened in 2017. My challenge was to only watch movies that I hadn’t seen before and it didn’t matter whether they were old or new, the only stipulation was that I had to watching the film for the first time as I had found myself continually watching the same old movies again and again and the world of cinema is virtually endless and I wanted to view as much of it as I could. In 2017 I did the same thing and while my blog got scrapped I still made a record of the movies I watched and managed to watch 209 new films and that my goal, to beat the year before which I did emphatically as I managed to watch 270 movies this year and wrote a blog post where I reviewed each and every one of them. I’m not going to say it’s been easy because it’s been a lot tougher than a thought but I’m pleased that I was able to go the entire year and see it through to complete one of my start of year goals.

Moving onto the movies and I watched some magnificent movies and a small handful made it into my all time favourite movies. Movies such as The Greatest Showman, Hacksaw Ridge, Mask, Patch Adams, Misery and Good Will Hunting were truly breathtaking and were the only movies that received top marks and a place amongst my favourite movies. Almost 200 of the movies that I watched received a rating of 6/10 or higher which is the minimum score that I need to rewatch a movie and give it a second chance as I feel anything that I deem worthy of a 5/10 has too many flaws for me to give another chance to but overall I’m pleased with how few many movies that I enjoyed as I don’t think this year would’ve been as fun if most of the movies were stinkers. Obviously film taste is all completely subjective and there may be some movies I really loved which some of you guys scratch your head at and some that I hated which leave you a little perplexed but I’m going to list below in ranked order, from best to worst, the entire list of movies that I watched. It’s going to be a very long list and usually I link each movie review to its corresponding number but to link all 270 reviews will just take up way too much time so forgive me and my laziness. I don’t expect anybody to read the entire list as it will be very, very long but if you do manage to make it to the end you will be rewarded with an imaginary gold star. I will point out where each numbered finishes and the next number begins so it helps make it easier to see what movie received what score.
